Welcome Home

The T House is a non profit foundation that believes gender affirming care is vital to the mental and physical well being of the the queer and transgender community. We provide financial assistance to those who are unemployed, underemployed or financially burdened to pay for beauty and wellness services that support them on their gender journey. We are creating an alliance of trans-affirming salons in the Portland, OR area to provide beauty and wellness services, build community and celebrate euphoria.

It’s not home without

FAMILY

and for us,

FAMILY IS QUEER

COMMUNITY EVENTS

We believe that we are better together, so we host events, teach classes and create opportunities to form friendships and connections within the community. Some of our past events have included a craft night, a pop up art gallery, Queer Winefest and Portland Pride.

We are currently planning a fashion show at Bombshell Transformations salon in St. Johns for August 9th 2026. All proceeds will go to support the T House. You can purchase tickets for the event here:

Some future event's we’d love to put together are karaoke nights, game nights, craft nights, potlucks, movie nights & live music.

We are seeking volunteers to help plan and organize events, as well as teach skills based classes. If you have a skill you feel would benefit the community, or would like to help us with events, please email bettie@thethouse.org!

FASHION SHOWS

Last Year one of our partner salons, Bombshell Transformations, joined with the Trans Wardrobe Project to provide hair and makeup for a Fashion Show at Doc Marie’s. This year, Bombshell Transformations will be hosting their own fashion show, ‘Dress the Dolls’ in St. Johns. Clothing will be provided by local thrift and vintage stores and one of the walks will feature corsets by Versatile Corsets. The salon team will be doing hair and makeup for the event. Remy Wines and charcuterie will be available for purchase!

CRAFT NIGHTS

Our craft night was a hit, and we plan to do another one soon! We had about twenty queer and local community members show up with their projects to work on. People brought their yarn work, digital art projects, origami and other fun crafts to work on while we ate snacks and made new friends.

MAKEUP CLASSES

The T House partnered with OSU Pride Center to host a Makeup and Mocktails class for their Trans femme identifying students. The participants received a small kit with makeup and brushes, and learned how to match foundation to their skin tone, choose colors that look best on them, and learned basic makeup application.

GENDER AFFIRMING HAIR SERVICES

A haircut for most people can mean feeling like yourself again. It can make you feel more confident and put together. It can change how someone perceives you in an interview, or just out and about. For a trans person it can mean they don’t get misgendered(or not as often), they get taken seriously at a job interview, or they finally get to see themselves the way they feel on the inside. At the T House, we know that besides being a major contributer to euphoria, a good haircut can save a trans persons life.

HAIR LOSS SOLUTIONS

We at the T House, understand that hair thinning and loss can be a huge contributor to dysphoria. We work with partner salons to support trans clients with finding topical applications to encourage hair growth and explore options for thinning hair. Our affiliates offer red light therapy, extension services, wig shaping, thinning, styling and tinting to provide viable options for those experiencing hair loss. Our trans-affirming salon partners can help clients fit and source extension hair, wigs, falls, toppers and other hair pieces. They also offer wig installation for those clients with severe hair loss. If cost is an issue, the T House can help.

HAIR AND MAKEUP LESSONS

Hair and makeup lessons empower trans clients to look and feel their best, and give them more control over their appearance. This is an important part of gender affirming care, as it can not only improve self esteem, but it can be the difference in passing(if that’s a goal), getting a better job, and feeling more confident in making new social connections.

Bombshell Transformations, a T House affiliate, offers one on one hair and makeup lessons. In these lessons, clients can learn how to find their color season and choose makeup shades that look best with their skin tone. They are taken step-by-step through the makeup selection process, application of makeup and how to use brushes for application and blending. Hair lessons can vary, depending on what each client wants to learn. Options include basic styling and blow drying, curl care and diffusing, curling or flat iron styling, braiding or other quick hairstyles. The T House helps provide these services for transgender individuals needing extra support.

These lessons are helpful to clients of all genders, but they especially benefit transgender femmes. Many cisgendered women are taught how to do hair or makeup by their moms, friends, or other family members. Trans women don’t have this advantage, and often don’t know where to turn to learn about this. Many online tutorials are too complicated for beginners, and videos often assume their viewers already know how to hold a makeup brush or part their hair. Step by step, patient instruction from our affiliates make it easy, allowing clients to walk away from their lessons feeling confident and empowered.
